I'm curious to know how much a gas tank is worth I've got a 2006 honda shadow spirit 750 and in looking to switch out the tank its massive for the bike, just wondering if anyone knows the retail on one it's near mint condition. Like.My buddy has a sportster with a peanut tank and he's the first one to run out of gas, too. But that one is really small. Removing it is easy. Take out the bolt at the rear of the tank, pull the fuel hoses and the vent tube, remove the gauges if they're on your tank, and wiggle it back and forth and pull it off the two rubber mount nubs. 1.Gas tank vent line. (for me anyway) I would guess that you could pretty safely run 30 miles after hitting reserve in whichever season. I discovered the easiest way to access the fuel filter was to remove the exhaust, both side panels, and unbolt the cover behind the rear cylinder. This happens when the inlet needle becomes dirty/defective or the float get damaged/out of adjustment. Those are the only ways to get gas out of the carb vent line. Gas Tank venting. I have a new-to-me 2001 Shadow 750 ACE, and I am very happy with the bike so far. This is my first street bike, I am coming from a Dirtbike background and I have a quesiton about Gas Tank venting. What you call a "breather" is a vent for the gas tank. As you take fuel out, there must be a way for air to get in, or very quickly a vacuum forms inside the tank and no more gas comes out.
