Browsing SOTW a few weeks ago I read multiple reports from players praising their Jinbao bass saxophones, including three regarding the Thomann branded bass. Hmmm. Personally I think working on altissimo IF you use it is a good idea, and the first 3-4 overtones are useful, but getting a million overtones is just a party trick.Both the Reference 54 and AWO1 sound great; the AWO1 was just a smidge brighter. The AWO1 is a really free blower, and easier to play overall. The tone is a more focused and intonation is spot-on with minimal adjustment on my end. My wife commented that I look much more comfortable playing the AWO1. Definitely need to fix the thumb. Should rest at about 2 o’clock overlapping the key. When you press the key, the joint should bend or slightly roll while staying put on the rest, no shift at all. When playing the palm notes, a slight rotation is added, but joint still stays put on the rest.

They did not cancel these models (yet). Granted, it might be nice to have the same model available for both voices, but I think adding a "Signature" or whatnot would reclutter the Selmer ...
